Weekly meeting of the Safe Sites for all Team - working on safe parking and safe encampment project across Pierce County. This week will include an initial debriefing of the 509 sweep. We want to better understand the facts over the period from the decision to do the sweep to the completion of the sweep.. Establish the timeline, identify actions by various providers, volunteers, law enforcement, port/city/tribal/Union Pacific staff, note what 509 residents told us they wanted/needed by way of shelter and services, number of campers living in vehicles, number of campers with pets. We hope to know the status of everyone who had been in the 509 prior to the 72 hour notice given out on May 28. We hope to identify lessons learned that we might apply to the next sweeps and use to inform the Pierce County Shelter Work Group (End Street Homelessness by Nov. 1, 2021) and Steering Committee (Comprehensive Plan to End Homelesssness).
